Shine Bright Like A Diamond!

As I walked along the new fallen snow, I see the sparkle of tiny diamonds glimmer at me. I find joy in seeing this sparkle, it inspires me deeply within. I have seen the ocean water have this same diamond sparkle so powerfully that I am overjoyed inside. I see this at the lake as well, when the sun hits just right and it is like a million diamonds glimmering at me. Even the night sky on a clear evening can give me that same sparkly effect that soothes me within. Somehow, it seems to tell me that I am that. I have that glitter, beauty and shine as these things do. It does something inside me to reassure me that I too am powerful and glitter like a diamond.

In a world full of negative feedback and situations not so sparkly, how do we keep that glimmer going inside that fills us with love, hope, possibility and knowing that we too are gems? I consider it  the game here. To remember that our beauty, our wonder is always with us, we are always that incredible sparkle no matter what is happening about us or to us.

How do we cultivate such a lovely thought, such connection to the bright hope we are? How do we keep this alive inside, this sparkle of wonder that allows us to pass through all situations knowing we are the sparkle, that these things only polish our gem to be shine bright and more magnificently?

I find there are practices or activities that continue to cultivate this sparkle. They all have to do with self care for without it, how could we sparkle? It is a necessary practice, a way of living the yoga that we are cared for, we are honored, we are magical and need time to be in this space so we may remember this bright quality that exists for us to call upon.

Nature. I can not express enough how important nature is to reflecting this calm, beautiful, wonder that we are. I began with images that I see when I am out in nature that fill me, remind me and inspire me to experience feeling this within. It is so simple to step outdoors and feel the power we have by just being in the beauty. In seeing it outside rather than all the negativity, we feel this still strength that is present all around us. It gives us the reflection of who we are.

Meditation/Spirit Study. Meditation and spirit study are a way to remind ourselves of that sparkle we are. When we go inward, calm and settle ourselves, the being, the beauty, the stillness allows us to relax and remember the power, joy and wonder that is us. Reading inspiration in sacred books, prose or even thank you cards we have received can take us to that place of power and remind us of the grandeur we are. It can reset the worst of situations or remind us to redirect our energy in that moment. We can reset ourselves toward the power we are rather than allow our responses to run us.

Others. Our circle of friends, our loved ones or even acquaintances can reflect that sparkle.  We can chat and hash out our troubles or we can just engage in the delight of seeing one that we love. We can be in the grocery store line and see one needs a smile or one gives a smile and it warms us deep within. We can compliment one or notice a kind act or deed and it redirects us to the goodness about. This will create that feeling within. Being heard is often all we seek from others. Not solutions or answers but acknowledgement that we are in a challenge and that it is OK. We will crest above it, pass through it and find ourselves again in our successful wonder. Focusing on helping another gives us power as well. We realize our situation isn't so bad or that we do have much to share and give away. There is such power in others or we would be on a planet alone. Using others to reset ourselves reminds us of our sparkle.

Imagination. This is such a great tool and often we use this to our own demise. Our imagination can take anything and turn it into something else. I am a huge proponent of using this tool to find the silly, crazy and magical in the simplest things. Even if I am in strife of sorts, I will create a story in my mind that makes it exciting. All becomes an adventure to find the missing thing, an expanded view of what appears very hard in the moment. I will be the character that is in woe and wins in the end. Or the one who knows the magic secret and must do something to bring it about. I can even see myself as the ocean sparkling or the diamonds in the snow, connecting to that within me. I  see myself picking up the diamonds that represent what I need in that moment. I use imagery to conjure the feeling of power, clarity or calmness that I may need. Its all just stories anyway so win in them!

Relaxing. Taking 5 to breathe, be and settle myself can bring in my sparkle. Letting go of my mind, my emotions and just taking a break in presence to hear the robins chatter or see the beauty around me is restorative. Doing this many times throughout the day resets my power, my intentions to express well, my gratitude to be alive. I allow oxytocin to fill my being which creates that feeling that all is OK and perfect in that moment. The world could spin without me for a few minutes. All I need to do is breathe deeply to find success. Calming down my physical body to a peaceful pace resets my sparkle, my mindset towards things and gives me clarity and power.

Movement. Some days moving is the thing that reminds me of my great wonder. I go out and expend energy in whatever way I can to allow the excess energy, thoughts or emotions to be moved through without the hoopla. I use the anxiety inside, fear or doubt as the fuel to move. I may bike ride, clean or take a walk in a scurry. As I do, I allow that excess emotions or thinking to be used as energy and transmute it out of me. Aharaj Yoga taught me how to use movement to clear myself of any hard emotions or thoughts. After a bit, your pace slows down, you body feels the endorphins and actually gets into relax when you are done. The thoughts, feelings and stress of the body are transmuted into peace. I have calm and clarity, feeling powerful and sparkly again.

Free Form Writing. This is a wonderful technique that supports us in letting rambling craziness go. If I am angry, in hardship and feel lost or upset, even impatient towards life, I often will light a candle and just write out all I feel. This is a powerful tool to clear our mind, emotions and subconscious. I don't even form all the words in writing, it could be scribble. I let whatever comes to mind to go through the pen and be out of my being. It gets ridiculous the things that come out sometimes but I don't judge or really care. I can say all the unsaid, bitch and whine, have a tantrum and at some point the writing and intense energy dissipates. It is a magic way to clear ourselves and bring us back to the calm peace needed to go forward.

Do Something Your Love! Step away from whatever is occuring and do anything that you love. Savoringly, eat some delicious food that will bring joy. Take a bath. Turn on a song and dance or sing it crazily. Book an airline ticket. Take action in an area that inspires you. Go to the beach. Walk at a creek. Call a friend you miss. Take a nap. Anything can be used to remind us of our sparkle that feels honoring of ourselves and our desires to be joyful. It is that simple. Actions do shift us. Movement and sound are quicker than thinking so do something good and fun!

We are that sparkle we see in the world. We are the sparkle we see in others. We are all unique and of great wonder and gifts. The intention or game to shine this part of ourselves. Sure we have many other parts inside that we contend with that are simply errors in learning. They are not our power, our being or our true expression. They are things we did at a moment. The underlying magic is always there. It is our source, our brilliance, our divine spark that pushes us to express even the bad. Just wanting to shine, trying this and that, winning at some, losing at others. The results not really us. The spark, the movement, the glitter behind the action is our shining diamond. And we as humans just polishing it up as we go. It is really quite beautiful. Use these tool to refine your awareness.

I inspire you to Shine Bright Like a Diamond! Experience and return to the joy of your sparkle as you get lost in the polishing process! It allows you to shine brighter, fuller and more magnificiently!
