Usher in Change with the Autumn Season

As the chill begins to usher in it is natural for us to want to clean and clear ourselves on all levels. As a gardener, it is time to cut the old stalks and prepare the plants for winter. Perfect time to transplant and shift about the garden getting rid of  any undesirables. Soon it will perfect to transplant trees as they go in dormancy.

In our homes it is natural to get rid of old clothes as we dig out the warmer attire, refreshing our closets for the autumn temperatures. The natural instinct to clear out closets and drawers, rooms and old stuff that can go to someone else. There are garage and yard sales about, sharing and selling things that are no longer needed.

As we do this on the physical levels, so natural to us, let us not forget the mental and emotional levels as well.  Old thinking can release, emotions and experiences that may have held us captive can be reviewed and cleared. Consciously knowing that it is time to renew, refresh leaving stagnant ways behind to allow space for more wonderous thinking and feeling. These levels are so important and often missed when we get this autumn desire to clear, yet they have the most impact on our lives.

I love the beauty of autumn, the color, the magnificence before the fall of the leaves. Like a last hurrah before the barren winter. Nature shows us the cycle of things and invites us to do the same on all levels as we are part of the cycle living on the earth. So take a moment to consider what is not working, what you don't like about life, reflect on how your perception may be cluttered and consciously clear it out. It is perfect timing when nature is doing it, the energy of clearing and releasing makes it easier for us to let go and be done. So much of our baggage, our illness, our unhappiness or dismay comes from thinking and feelings that are no longer pertinent for our times. We cling to the silliest of things! Emotions and thinking just clog our way, not giving us room for what we want and intend.

There is a Law of Sacrifice that most don't talk of. Maybe the name makes it undesirable. The truth is that nothing new can come when a space is filled. This law speaks of sacrificing the old, outworn, unneeded ways. Not things that we like or things that give us joy, but things no longer necessary! I like this law, it reminds me to purge on all levels so there is space for what I want to come in. What is filled must be emptied so it may begin to fill again. Do it consciously and really fill with those things that bring your joy! Make it work for you this year, take the time to clear within, it is worth the moment to get you closer to your dreams.

The Lotus Project has two events to celebrate this shift. Friday evening with Dr. Lauren Nappen and her magical wisdom, a bonfire  as we release the old and create room for the things that bring us joy. Saturday evening we are part of 10 Billion Beats drumming across the globe hosted by Valerie Hopkins.Followed by our classic blending of rhythms of our monthly drum circle. Both invite you to bring a snack to share as we celebrate this most beautiful season in the Northeast! Family and kid friendly and wonderful way to kick off the season so beautiful!!
