Educating Yourself!

I have always been a proponent of educating ourselves. I am an educator, a student and one who loves to expand my ways. It is important that we continue to grow and learn to be on top of the world, find new solutions, become better people. My area of interest at this time is mostly on health and well being.  If we are not healthy, feeling well, taking care of ourselves, we don't have much of anything.

In my 20's I was in charity work, raising funds and educating others on local children's organizations in our community. In my 30's it was all about green living, whats in our homes, food and products. I grew organic flowers as my main stay but gathered many on the farm to learn of the value of the things they have around and ingest. I published a book on woman's role and health called The Lotus Project, alluring beauty and well being through green living.

Now I spend time educating on the healing and expressive arts. Very in line with green living and nourishing. I find many have physical, emotional or mental issues with high stress and there is no greater healing than to engage in these arts. Trained in the yoga of living, creating a lifestyle that enhances you on all levels includes many of the things I have spend my life educating on. Its not just about sitting in a classroom taking notes. It is experiencing the arts which are naturally experiential or doing.

At this time, with the world as it is, I find the only way we can find balance and health is through knowing ourselves. Through this, we can find the information or practices that will support us to a greater living experience. It is rarely learning how to expand business or get more customers that support our health, although they are valid avenues of  business education. I find more people are seeking ways to live a happier life with more enjoyment and relaxation. These are somewhat intangible and different for everyone. Therefore knowing yourself is paramount to heal yourself.

I also observe that the things that create this balancing are calming things. Expressive classes like Yoga, Tai chi, Dance, painting and crafting. Finding complimentary healing through alternative medicines which retrain the body of what it feels like to relax. Gathering with like minded others in studies like  numerology, crystals, book clubs, support groups or flower essences. Doing spiritual expansion with meditation, drumming, getting in self development or what's considered "woo woo",

To me these all seem to come under the "Self Care" area. Educating yourself in new areas that will add relaxation, calm you, expand you and invigorate your spirit. They work all on different levels yet they all seem to sum up to doing nice things for yourself that honor you and build your spirit. Life isn't getting easier in the tasks or the conditions. Yet we can still find ways through learning of ourselves and the plethora of interesting things out there, how to find more peace, calm and enjoyment.

They say enlightenment is relaxation. Relaxing into life as it comes, rolling in presence and finding ways to use it all toward growing. These things take education on our part. The main stream way of living is not doing it for us. Our training to do, go, accomplish is killing our health. To be well, we need to take time out in the areas of spiritual growth. Spirit, as in growing our spirit of joy toward life. Igniting that inspiration, enthusiasm and calm that says "All is OK.  I will keep going forward no matter what." Not in panic, in stress or strife but by finding ways to nourish ourselves back to the attitude that life is good.

I inspire you this new year to find some out of the box expansion to bring yourself to greater living. Whether it is peaceful movement or art, learning of synchronicities of the universe and how we are all connected, expanding in some alternative science or just treating yourself to a healing massage that soothes and nourishes. These arts are flooding our world on all levels. Why? They work like no other to calm us down, reset our parasympathetic  nervous system which renew us and offer more mystical views of a very dogmatic world. They bring back the chill, relax and fun to our body, mind and spirit. Most importantly, they inspire our true essence in optimistic, joyous ways.

We are spirits in a body living in this human condition. We need to educate ourselves deeper on what this means and live in ways to honor and nourish this essential self. It is the time. There is no other way there. The grand thing is that it works to reset our whole being. I promote many of these classes at The Room at Meadowbrook. There are places all over sharing these great ways of self care and education. Be bold and expand into the Woo woo! It is magical! It is healing. It is inspiring and it will give you greater health and well being. I promise.
