The Blessings Are Already Here!

It is one of the greatest holidays about us and I feel there is a richer state of gratitude and giving then other years. It has been a ride this last month and many are still unsettled in just where they are living. A dear friend lost his house to a fire last week, something unrelated to the storm, unpredictable indeed things are.

I believe that so much turmoil offers us a gift to remember the many blessings we do have, not all the things we have about us are as important as the love, kindness or support of others. You often hear that gratitude is the first feeling to conjure for it connects us to grace which seems like magic. Often we think we are at our limit of mess and then something larger comes along and creates even more challenge. We find courage we didn't have, blessings we didn't know where about and support from places we never would of guessed. To me these are indeed great times of shift where truly leaning on others is the only way we will make it through. This creates a deeper sense of connection to others and the larger world and indeed this is joyous after the disconnection we felt with the election.

When you are crumbled in the corner, lost beyond repair, confused as how to move, there is that moment of gratitude that is forced upon us that we are not alone and can not possibly do it alone,  we are so thankful for the kindness of others. Getting electricity and honoring the joy of being connected many of us felt from the storm was a small sense of the gratitude those at the shore or my friend from the fire are feeling. They have to rely on so much more than some power lines and indeed humanity has come through for them in a big way.

This Thanksgiving the gratitude seems intensely evident. We don't have to reach for it or get to it through some exercise or practice, it is just here in a new form. When crisis steps in there is no them and us, it is about helping the one who needs it no matter what their lifestyle, view or position on things. They need help, all relate on that level and the differences are unimportant. Funny to have an election show such rift in thinking as they call it yet the storm offers such commonness in all and not split what so ever. Certainly there are always those still seeing the separateness but they just are lost in their perception, for the unity seems far more apparent here in the Northeast.

The art of giving thanks has been thrust upon us in a new way. It has been one of those fall on your knees kind of things, where you are naturally grateful, there is nothing else to say, you are blown away by the wonder of giving, you feel blessed and there is no uncertainty in it. If you were not on the receiving end you were on the giving end. That has its own same gift of gratitude, finding ways to help, thankful you have what you do and offering whatever excess you have to others feels powerful and natural. All around the gratitude heals and alerts us to the blessings that are here right now, in this very moment. You forget you issues, what seemed overwhelming now pales in comparison. Compassion is high, otherness seems irrelevant.

Savor this feeling as you go through your holiday. It is a wonderful world we are part of. Yes there are huge problems, crazy paradoxes, unsavory things going on but there is a greater underlying feeling that is about as well. It is deeper, wiser and more subtle yet more powerful than the surface things about us. There is a shift going on inside us all. With consciousness we can clear this illusion that we are separate and alone. We are deeply connected, anothers strife effects us, others are important, our world must cooperate and work together, there is no other way. I wish you well for the holiday and hope my words energized clearly this deeper feeling about in 2012 that has the power to move us all forward in a delightful dance of intermixing and blending of extremes. We need each other! I am grateful to remember that!

 The blessings are here already! Theses are not just words that we say, the feeling is clearly within our hearts! That is the power of our feeling nature, it overrules the mind and creates energy and movement so powerful, a connectedness beyond our physical space or thinking ways! If we all count our blessings, the law will create so many more. It is law! It workings are clearly visible, the connection of our hearts in this larger way, aware and conscious of it, will bring a more delightful world! Woohoo!
