The Goddess Revival! How Does This Help Woman?

Part of the feminine movement has put forth a revival of ancient woman archetypes, Goddesses. It is strong in the worldwide community. It is foreign to many of us brought up in a conservative community. We know of Mary, the Blessed Mother who represents innocence and purity. We know of Mary Magdaline, who seems to represent the wild woman, and then there is Mother Teresa whom seems to represent charity.

Other than those figures, I knew nothing of Goddesses unless I called back to mythology. For me the sacred feminine, being a Garden Goddess, these all were intriguing to me. How could they not? I am a woman and to see beautiful woman models inspires me! I interpreted it more in fun and lightness, like being Cleopatra for a costume party. As I studied the ancient cultures, when woman had a deeper community, truly shared life and its details in a deeper way, their strife's, their challenges, I found many Goddess archetypes and delved in.

As I see them, they appear to be representing our feeling nature, our dynamic changing way. Most of them as the woman I mentioned in the first paragraph seem to represent parts of our feeling nature, one thing woman are familiar with. We have this incredible emotional nature, empathetic gift that we are not taught of but was developed in the older cultures. Our feeling nature has the bad wrap. We are often overrun by it because we do not understand the true gift of it. As I have studied the sacred feminine, it has been delightful to find the secrets this wonderful gift.

In our culture we do not honor this feeling way. There is much commentary on it with negative connotation. It is deemed unstable and erratic. To feel others, to know who needs attention and care, to span the deep feeling nature we have and sensuality it creates is truly a wonderful gift. Not understanding it can run us crazy at times. It doesn't have to. Knowledge is power.

One great distinction I have learned is the difference between feelings and emotions. Our feelings are natural, they come in waves and can come from about us through sensing others feelings or our own response to what is occurring about us. They don't have to be right or wrong, they just are part of our sensing nature. Emotions are responses to those feelings or our reaction we have to them. So if someone is unkind, we may feel hurt. That is a signal, maybe we want to move away from that person. Our emotional reaction could  be to feel rejected, calling up other times we felt that way, producing more energy and thinking about that unkindness than just noticing it. To me this distinction is very enlightening way to look at them both.

I had my daughter get me some Goddess cards for my birthday just to see what 52 archetypes there were. Couldn't even begin to list 52 woman as role models. Fascinatingly so, I discovered they represent our feeling nature, at least how I interpret these archetypes. As I have drawn them, shared them with others and  investigated  the Goddess movement, I have become quite enlightened to myself. They say our feeling nature is our tracking system, to see where we are in relation to life, our guidance system. Using these cards you can fully catch that. All emotions are indicators and these archetypes has helped me define my feelings more clearly as well as understand the message, the guidance that each brings. No other knowledge has taught me that so clearly regarding my feelings and empathic sensing.

The pictorials of them are just gorgeous which sings woman's hearts. Compassion, fear, sensuality, power, nourishment, relationships, hearth and home, wild woman, wisdom, fear,  all are represented by a Goddess in some culture or region. All these feelings, archetypes, are necessary  to understand our empathic nature,  True signals,  their meaning and how to use them for the guidance they bring is a wonderful  journey of learning. Vast amounts of knowledge so clearly that should be part of our culture. Woman need role models that show beauty, wisdom and harnessing their feeling nature!

So this is what it is about. This is my understanding on the worldwide revival of the sacred women! Guidance to understanding the many feelings we have and how to use them as the indicators they are and nourish ourselves wholly instead of trying to keep our them under control. To experience them fully, the reason and waves as they come, our intuition giving us signals as to the world around us. Whether to protect or love, to heal or give, to move forward or step back. This is the wonderful scoop we are missing in our feminine culture that needs to come out and be used in the world!

None of this information or study conflicts with other religious belief systems either. It is more of a woman enhancing philosophy. We have so few role models that represent such high ideals or characteristics. We have very limited explanation of our feelings other then to get over them as soon as we can or to berate ourselves for feeling them too much. For me this has been a wonderful awakening to the glory of my feeling nature, my intuition and my empathy. Giving us that power to ride and harness our emotions vs get ridden by them. This is important woman,s knowledge. We all wanted to be the princesses in Disney! Here we have a chance to be them all by honoring the virtues of our femininity!
