Surrender! The Joy of Summer!

Surrender is a hard word for us to truly understand in this ambition culture. We consider the white flag the symbol of it as though you have resigned or lost your gumption. There is yet another more healthy way to look at it as a releasing to what is, allowing what will be happen and take a rest!

The Summer Solstice is considered a time of surrender. The spring work is done, the seedlings are in, the hard work is over and now we just maintain and watch things grow. It is not as active as spring in workload. It is more of allowing things to grow knowing there is a season for everything. As a grower I appreciate this. I could not extend the energy I do in the spring through the whole year. It doesn't make sense in the cycle of things, so blessed we are for the seasons and cycles.

Summer is about gathering, vacations, barbeques and pool hanging. We actually get to enjoy others more, have impromptu meetings and spend more time socializing than any other season. In the business world we don't start new things or push forth ideas, everyone is on summer mode and things just won't move as quick, peoples brains are a bit more checked out. This is important to remember, surrender to what you have done, allow it all to grow and chill out in the meantime.

So step back from the seriousness of life, the struggles, the power mode, the hurry up mentality and enjoy yourself. Find pleasure in just being and engaging with others, no real motive other than fun. It is the season of surrender, time to be in more pleasure, grounded in you have done enough for now, so get out and relax and giggle. The world needs more summertime thinking!!
