Reclaiming Balance

We often find ourselves in situations, dilemmas that get us off balance. We get focused on something, and issue or problem, our mind keeps cycling trying to understand or find conclusion. We end up getting run by this or that, not being present, finding ourselves thinking of the dilemma in our between time. This pulls us off balance, whether emotionally or mentally, often both. Presence is hard to experience and we can find ourselves out of balance within.

These patterns are no easy deal. We have many of them so I share ideas to break them in the hopes that if we keep shifting present, we can stop them. They run us on so many levels with so many things. We create anxiety, fear of the future and nothing is really happening. If it is a conversation to resolve with another, we can keep having it in our minds. If it is panic over money or some future outcomes, we actually put energy into the fear or worry and create the very thing we are trying to avoid. We get out of balance.

These are patterns. We all have many of them. Worry is an example, it takes us out of the here and now, we are in an imaginary scenario. Patterns steal our life energy. We can't participate in what is occurring and goodness that we could have. Mentally, we know this, we know we need to stop cycling through these but doing it a whole different story. Why practice at all spiritual techniques or any process is the way to improve our life experience. Simple but a challenge. Yet to continue in the same old makes us feel like a fool. That is never optimal.

One thing to remember is that in reality, nothing is happening. All you are doing is mentally playing with an idea. Nothing is happening that your body can participate in and make right. The mind can conjure in the emotions to the loop and next thing you know you are all upset, sad, angry, a slew of negativity. All along, there is truly nothing going on in the "real" way. We are not experiencing anything on the physical level but strife. possibly an upset stomach. It is like a bad trip in our imagination. We could do this for days. We miss out on the reality happening. The birds singing, nature, even a joke isn't so funny when we are in this. "Preoccupied" we call it.

If you could chat with the other person, you could resolve it. If you have a worry, you could make a solution right there and in the moment and dilemma resolved. If you can do nothing in the here and now to solve, you need to drop it. Otherwise, mental gymnasts is going on and no solution will come. We  do this so many ways to ourselves. I am bringing this to light so that when you are in this, maybe you could find a way to get out. It is just part of being human yet it wastes precious life.

The only way out is to drop it for now. Easier said then done. How could you do that? You could get onto doing something in presence. Physical movement usually pulls our mind into doing and can break the cycle.  The physics law, sound and movement are quicker than thinking helps. Put on some music, play anything to shift your emotions to positivity. Yes, these are tricks but we are trying to get out of this cycle of pulling you into a pattern that is wasting life force.

You could free form write, just write crazily on a page of paper so the thoughts are atleast out of your mind and then burn it. In Aharaj Yoga, we conjure the situation and then loudly with our voice and movement, try to expel this from our field. You have energy rolling about in you and the game is to get it out so you can be present or on to the next thing that is really happening. Not just stay in the mind where truly, nothing is happening. You are just expending energy on a situation that is not moving here nor there, just stinking thinking as John Rogers puts it.

You could imagine the situation working out in your favor. Some days that is the solution. Switching the negative imagination to a positive one. Seeing the relationship or conversation going right could be enough to stop the pattern and settle you. Visually that money comes to you or that a worry works out beautifully. These are tools using your creative imagination in the positive direction.

Finding something that you can complete, move on or get to the next step is helpful. Using this energy to move a different part of your life forward so you can take action in that moment often gives us a sense of accomplishment. This can shift us out of the pattern. Putting us back to balance by working on another area of our life.

Rebalancing ourselves when we are in this type of unbalance is a game. You get to play it however you want but do try to play. Nothing is truly solid. Our mind loves to go off on tangents and get us out of presence, out of balance by focusing too much in one direction, creating a dilemma. Redirecting ourselves, the only solution. Using techniques to use this energy towards clearing, toward another purpose is a key to moving on from patterns.

Balance is something we need to continually work on. There is always greatness going on in areas of our lives, usually many. The ones that seem to have issue are what we work on. We need to remember that it is just one area, we are working on it and it is not the total of our life. We don't want to get too caught up in the working area and forget how much is really going well. A problem with always focusing on the problems and then allowing that to run our mind, moods and physical being.

Balance is reminding ourselves that there is areas of goodness that we can often focus on to remember life is good. We will always be working on an area, for this is a learning experience here. Letting that working area run us to where we get out of balance is not healthful or helpful. Keep stepping back and remember your big picture. Life is good. There is goodness always available. Balance is seeing our life in its totality, If one area is tough, recenter, find your balance of gratitude and then come back to that area refreshed from remembering all the success you have.

A game of balancing our focus! Play away!
