Yea right? How do we not rush through the most crazy time of year? We choose not to is all I can say. I know what a challenge it is yet it is possible to find savoring moments to appreciate the fun of it. I have been decorating for everyone else and just got on my stuff for an Open House tonight. I have been greening and arranging and putting up the sparkle only today for myself. Under the gun you could say, but I rolled through it with ease and grace.
I love to decorate, bring in the greens, offer the live decor to the holiday situation. So today, despite an intense schedule, I just mozied through, purposefully, enjoying it. Sometimes the rush just quickens and we get more hurried and stress, things actually take longer. Today I committed to appreciating creating beauty for our event and it went smooth, easy, in joy and didn't take all that long. Often our minds make it seem like days of work and when we get to it, it flies through quickly, shorter than we "thought".
Try to take a savoring point of view this season. Stress just increases adrenaline and then gets more intense to overwhelm. Be mindful of what you are doing. Do it with an open heart making sure love, light and sharing of your heart are in it. Doing in rush doesn't support the seasonal vibe and it adds stress to the gifts, food, decor, whatever task we are doing. Keeping your mind, body and being in the flavor of what you choose, adds to the experience. Rush is never healthy or nearly as rewarding.
I know this appears as such a high request but I have done it for years. I used to pull off huge parties at my farm and would begin with the enjoy intention. So many times, I was ready before the guests came in full sparkle. I even had a moment to breathe and get ready to enjoy all the events. Even staying up late with the right peaceful attitude, not crazy stress, made for restful sleep for I was not all insane minded. I just would do one thing after another on my list with the attitude of really sharing my heart, space and gifts.
Take heed this season and see if it works. You know how to stress, be insane, think you will never get it done. Take the attitude of it all will work beautifully and go through it at a pace of medium. You know what I speak of for we have all done this before and gotten things done quicker and more easily when we play with it. It is worth a try to see if you can absorb the true meaning of the holiday.
Sometimes I would let go of little details that just weren't going to happen without full stress. Since I make wreaths and support others decorating, when it came to me getting to mine, I was behind. However, I went for getting done what I wanted and if there was an over the top thinking that would be more stress than pizazz, I let it go. It's OK to not fulfill all our ideals if it will create more peace inside. It is the season of peace, love and joy so lets remember we create those things. They don't just land in our world. So see if it works to provide your season with love, light and laughter as you play through your tasks. You will also look more beautiful and feel more vibrant!
May you have a wonderful few weeks adorning, cooking, gathering and celebrating! Blessings to you truly enjoying it all! Savor and revel so health and love can be with you the whole season through.
