There is so much light symbolism in December. The darkest month of all, calls forth the desire within us to bring in Light! Outside lights, tree lights, candlelight, firelight, the north star, all things to remind us of the return of light on the Solstice. Christmas, Hanukkah, Quanza, are celebrations of light and love in the darkest time of the year.
We share gifts, offer love, eat food, gather about great decoration and glitz! Such a great time of giving and receiving. There is lovely music about, pretty packages and bows, fine decoration to remind us of this loving season and perhaps we do these things to balance this absence of light!
It is a perfect time to remind ourselves to lighten up, take it light, reflect in the light of things, share our light, send Light and notice people's light! With less light around us it is pertinent to look for its reflection in things. More importantly, to strengthen our light inside. We are responsible for this. The outside conditions offer many things to get caught up in. However, the inside conditions always determine the course well beyond what is outside. This season reminds us of this. Will you shine your light in the darkest time of year or will you let the darkness rule? It is our choice and will depend what type of holiday you have so choose wisely. Sending you Light through this holiday season!
